Variation is the second studio album by Japanese singer Akina Nakamori, released on October 27, 1982. This album marked a significant milestone in Nakamori's career, becoming her first number-one album on the Oricon Weekly Albums Chart and remaining at the top position for three consecutive weeks.  Selling over 742,900 copies, it ranked number eight on the Oricon Album Yearly Chart in 1983, making it Nakamori's best-selling album to date.

The album solidified Akina Nakamori's status in the Japanese music industry, showcasing her ability to blend traditional Kayōkyoku styles with contemporary sounds. Its success paved the way for her subsequent albums and enduring influence in the J-Pop genre.​
